Local Government

Throughout the UK, local Councils consult the public regularly; some estimates place the number of formal consultations for a medium-size Authority at 200+. As listening exercises are undertaken in respect of hundreds of different services a large number of local government officers need public engagement skills – and the Institute is active in training staff from all departments and for a wide range of roles.

For Members of the Institute we have a Local Government Special Interest Group chaired by Davy Jones and focused on topical issues.
