Planning

Few subjects arouse the emotions that planning decisions evoke. Consultation plays an important role by law – and disappointed stakeholders regularly go to Court to dispute the process as well as the substance of controversial planning decisions. The Institute has a large number of Planning consultancies in membership and works with them and local authorities to promote best practice in this specialist field.

The Institute has also worked with the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) to develop its Guidance Note on Community engagement.

The Institute has a Planning Special Interest Group chaired by Mike Bartram and focused on topical issues. This is open to Members only.
