Consultation Excellence

Consultation Excellence Scheme

Designed for organisations which wish to make an investment in improved public engagement – and be recognised for doing so.

This innovative scheme lets public bodies take a step-by-step approach, guided by Institute Assessors – and working with established toolsets such as The Consultation Charter and the unique Consultation Skills Audit. A requirement is that key staff hold the Institute’s Certificate of Professional Development (CPD)

The Scheme can apply to a wide range of organisations, large and small, has in-built flexibility and has three levels:-

Commitment level

The introductory level, involving a set of important commitments and the attendance of relevant staff at a Consultation Charter Workshop.

  • Baseline Study  This should be done as a corollary to the Commitment level. Moving into the Implementation level it must be demonstrated that an acceptable Baseline study has been carried out. To download an information sheet on the Baseline Study parameters please click here

Implementation level

The intermediate level at which the Institute reviews the results of the commitments made at the previous level, and looks at key processes to ensure that Best Practice is observed

Achievement level

The advanced level which adds to previous requirements with an ability for the Institute to review additional processes and examine consultation exercises at random.

Organisations taking part in this Scheme will be authorised to display specially designed logos in order to demonstrate their commitment, and to provide additional confidence for consultees and stakeholders.
