Registered Facilitator Scheme
Why Do We Want More Registered Facilitators?
There are thousands of experienced Facilitators working in the UK – working in large and small organizations, or working independently. But public scepticism and mistrust of public bodies is widespread and there is a need to demonstrate the characteristics of independence and impartiality – especially when it comes to consultation and public engagement. Our Scheme is designed to strengthen the skills and know-how of those who wish to work in this context and, as Registered Facilitators, to be recognised appropriately.
What are the benefits?
Professional facilitators
They can use their registration to confirm that they are well equipped to facilitate events, meetings and focus groups for consultation purposes. tCI believes registered facilitators will therefore be in high demand as their skills are increasing needed for the Big Society and the Localism agenda.
The scheme is especially helpful in demonstrating professional facilitators’ independence and impartiality. tCI believes this is vital for many contentious consultations and as a consequence registered facilitators will be in demand; especially in planning and community engagement settings
Developers, planners and consultancies
The development field will need more and more facilitators in response to the changes being introduced by the Localism Bill. tCI believes the scheme is designed to ensure that their staff can act as facilitators without jeopardising the independence of the consultation.
In-House Facilitators
Many organisations rely on their own staff to facilitate groups on their behalf. The scheme provides reassurances that these in-house facilitators will operate in an impartial and independent way. tCI believes that this mitigates for any risk that consultations could be challenged because of the role of the facilitator.
The scheme provides reassurances that in-house facilitators understand their role and how they should behave in order to uphold the integrity of any consultation. tCI believes this is an important consideration that helps to ensure consultation exercises can withstand external scrutiny
In-house consultation/engagement practitioners
The scheme enables experienced practitioners to offer their services as facilitators, whilst maintaining the integrity of the consultation. tCI believes this to be a vital requirement for any in house facilitator.
The scheme is designed to build internal capacity to facilitate consultation meetings and events. Thus it is intended to save money for some organisations. tCI believes there is a genuine need to increase the capacity of public bodies to field professional facilitators.
In all these cases, we believe that Registration will prove very valuable. We have done our best to reduce the cost to an affordable fee.
Paying fees at each stage will cost £125 + vat for Enrolment, £325 + vat for the specialised Training course, and £95 + vat for Registration.
If, however, you pay as part of the Total Scheme package, the cost is £495 + vat.
If your organisation wishes to secure the registration of 5 or more staff, please contact us for discounts.
