Effective eParticipation
In the new course, we are conscious of the need to widen the scope in several ways. First – eParticipation is broader than eDemocracy, for the involvement of stakeholders is important for many organisations beyond what is strictly democratic. Secondly, having good online systems is not just a priority for Local authorities but also for other service providers and public bodies addressing regional, national and even international audiences. Finally, the new Local Democracy Bill obliges every Council to offer an ePetitions facility, and staff and elected members will need to understand the many implications arising.
The course will be run by Fraser Henderson wo, in recent years, ran the International Centre of Excellence for local eDemocracy (ICELE) and has an unrivalled knowledge of best practice in this area.
