Effective Participatory Budgeting

The recent CLG White Paper on Empowerment advocates extensive use of PB as a proven means of involving local citizens and giving them greater influence over financial decisions taken in their areas.

”We want to encourage ALL local authorities to follow the example of pioneering local authorities such as Sunderland and Bradford so that participatory budgeting is used in every local authority area by 2012” (Para 4.18 of Communities in Control, July 2008)

To equip officers and elected members to make optimum use of these exciting techniques, the PB Unit is working with the Consultation Institute to develop effective one-day training courses - open to all

The course attracts 20 cedits towards the Certificate of Professional Development
