Overview:

Every week, public bodies and local authorities are taking initiatives in public and stakeholder consultation. Often staff will find themselves involved with these exercises having no real knowledge or experience of the processes being used - they are effectively learning on-the-job; hardly to be recommended when important decisions will be based on their work.

Who is it for?
Attending the Consultation Institute’s course, Basic Consultation Processes, is the ideal way for such staff to become familiar with the basics - fast.
The course explains the basics of consultation including some interesting examples. Then, in some detail, it deals with the key processes involved in a consultation from design to giving feedback of results.
The appropriate consultation standards are also covered including the Government Consultation Code and the Institute’s own Consultation Charter.
Finally, bringing everything together, there is a group exercise in real-time problem solving.

Course Times:

Registration: 09:30
Course starts: 09:45
Course ends: 16:00
Lunch and refreshments are included.

Attendance at this course gives 20 credits towards the Institute's Certificate of Professional Development.
