John Twitchen

Institute Associate Profile

John is the founder of env23, a specialist environmental communications consultancy offering services in consultation, facilitation, community engagement, strategic communications, and media and public relations. John has over twenty years’ experience as a sustainability, infrastructure and environmental communications professional and has worked for a range of public, private and partnership organisations. He has a degree in environmental science and was previously Cory Environmental’s Communications Manager and Innovation Centre Manager at London Remade. Prior to starting env23, he was Chief Executive of Copper Consultancy, the result of the merger of his previous business, Sauce Consultancy, and 3G Communications. 

He has led communications, community engagement and consultation programmes for a number of planning applications for waste, recycling and renewable energy facilities, as well as conducting opinion research in the area of environmental behaviour change and green advertising claims and providing advice to TCI members on planning and environmental policy consultation requirements.

John is a member of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management’s communications committee, and was formerly vice-chair of the Consultation Institute’s Advisory Board.
