Rebecca Addis

Institute Associate Profile

Rebecca is an experienced researcher with diverse experience of managing projects for public and voluntary sector clients, having worked in the research industry for twenty years.  She is a Director of Community Research; a small research consultancy which was established in 2008 by Rachel Lopata.Community Research currently manages Thames Water’s online panel of customers and employees. Other clients include the General Medical Council, NHS North West London and Consumer Focus.

Rebecca has particular experience of qualitative and deliberative methodologies, including research with opinion leaders and stakeholders, young people, elderly people and people with disabilities. Rebecca has managed some high profile deliberative research and consultation exercises, including overseeing the public engagement for the NHS Next Stage Review and the Department of Health’s ‘New Deal for Carers’.

She previously worked as a director at Opinion Leader and led on health-related projects. This involved working for the Department of Health and at SHA and PCT level, in addition to work for a number of leading health charities. She managed numerous consultations to inform policy development, including some public and patient engagement on some contentious issues, for example, the reconfiguration of hospital services.

Rebecca has a young son and, as a result, her communities tend to revolve around him – chatting to other mums on the school run and helping out at PTA fundraising activities, as well as supporting other fundraising events arranged by the Beavers group that he belongs to. She also tries to attend a local pilates class once a week if she has time.
