Locals have raised concerns over discrepancies in the Council’s proposals.
Amersham’s residents have claimed Chiltern District Council (CDC) could be ‘seriously misleading them’ over plans to redevelop the Chiltern Pools.
Patrick Carroll, of Chiltern Avenue, said the literature from CDC gives the impression that the new pools will be replacing the old ones in the same site.
But he argues the plans clearly show that building will be relocated to the corner of Chiltern Avenue and King George V Road.
Mr Carroll also noted that there is no sign of Flint Barn or other historic farm buildings in the site plan.
He said: “I can’t believe that CDC could contemplate demolishing those, even if they were allowed to.”
The swimming pool is currently on the same site as the Amersham Community Centre and Amersham Library, as well as the King George Playing Fields.
Proposals have been made by CDC to replace the pools, which are now 50 years old and in need of repair, with one large building that would contain a library and community space.
Details of the proposals are online, and a site plan can also be found in the Council’s office in King George V Road.
Chiltern District Council said:
“We are considering the development of a new state-of-the-art leisure and community hub to replace the existing Chiltern Pools and facilities currently on the site. It is proposed that the new facility will be located on the existing site but no formal decision or plans have been produced at this stage; we are not hiding anything.”
“This is an open consultation and we want to hear everyone’s views on the proposals and if they have any concerns.”
