Understanding your Consultation and Engagement Capability
Work through a series of consultation and engagement practice areas at your own pace. A tCI specialist reviews your responses personally and sends you a written report with practical recommendations.

A clearer picture of where you are and where to focus next
The tCI Training Needs Diagnostic is a structured self-assessment covering eight areas of consultation and engagement practice. It is designed for anyone working in this field, whether you are just starting out, building on existing experience, or looking to sharpen specific skills.
Rather than giving you an automated score, a member of the tCI team reviews your responses personally. Your report reflects what you have actually said, not just a formula applied to your answers. It is currently available free of charge as part of our beta programme. We welcome feedback to help us improve it.

Who is if for?
Designed for individuals and teams at every level
Whether you are new to consultation and engagement or have been working in the field for years, the diagnostic is built to reflect where you actually are. The questions cover a range of practice areas, from legal compliance and stakeholder engagement through to analysis and reporting, so there is something relevant at every level of experience. You rate yourself honestly, and a tCI specialist takes it from there, reading your responses in context and shaping recommendations around your specific situation rather than applying a generic formula.
Your Report
What the competency profile looks like
Once a tCI specialist has reviewed your responses, you will receive a competency profile showing your self-assessed rating across a small range of skill areas. The report highlights your strongest areas and your priority areas for development, and reflects the goals you noted during the diagnostic.
- Your overall capability rating and development stage
- A visual profile across all eight skill areas
- Your strongest area and your priority area for development
- Your self-identified development priorities
- Practical recommendations from the tCI team
- Next steps and training options relevant to your needs

Questions
What you might want to know before you begin
A short list of questions to better inform you about the Training Needs Diagnostic
Do I need to provide my email to complete the diagnostic?
No. You can work through the full diagnostic without entering your email. You will be asked for it at the end if you would like to receive your personalised report.
How long does it take?
When will I receive my report?
A member of the tCI team reviews your responses personally, so reports are not instant. You can expect to receive yours within five working days of submitting.
Will my employer see my results?
No. Your report is sent directly to the email address you provide and is treated in confidence. We do not share individual results with employers or third parties.
Is there any obligation to purchase training after completing it?
None at all. The diagnostic is free and the report comes with no strings attached. If you would like to explore training options afterwards, we are happy to talk, but there is no pressure to do so.
What is the beta programme?
We are currently running the diagnostic in beta, which means we are actively refining it based on feedback from early users. Your responses help us improve it. Once you have received your report, we would welcome any thoughts you have on the experience.
