Focus groups are one of the most effective ways of engaging stakeholders and public.
Focus groups enable you to dig deep for information, gain and test the views of participants. They can be used in any stage of a process, contributing to an enhanced knowledge and understanding of your stakeholders and their perspectives.
This course covers the principles and practical aspects of how to set up and run a focus group, in person or online. It includes:
- Defining a focus group (as opposed to other types of group-gathering of information/data)
- When to use a focus group
- Different compositions of focus groups
- Selecting participants
- Question types and hierarchies
- Developing focus-group questions
- Collecting the data from focus groups
- Moderating focus groups (including set-up, moderator skills, tips on managing a group in progress)
