Residents across Welwyn Hatfield have highlighted how a consultation for a proposal to charge for garden waste collections does not give the option to choose ‘continue as is’.
Yesterday, the public were able to access Welwyn Hatfield Council’s consultation asking people whether they would choose to continue having their garden waste collected by the council if there was an annual subscription fee, and if so, how much they think it should be.
So far, more than 290 people have taken part.
Welwyn Hatfield residents are being asked to consider three options: £35, £50 and £70.
But people have pointed out that the survey does not include the answer option to ‘continue as is’.
Questions have also been asked about what would happened to food waste if the brown bin service (currently garden waste and food) was paid for only.
