Open Public services … possibly! – 5 things you need to know about the Government’s new blueprint for public services
Most people won’t read the Government’s White Paper Open Public Services. And if they did, they might struggle to understand what it says!
Maybe it’s because the Coalition has followed the previous administration’s habit of peppering the text of such documents with references to any and every current initiative that could just about be regarded as relevant and it believes to be a success! So it reads like a catalogue of Government policies on everything from free schools to welfare reform with just enough linking narrative to present a plausible conceptual framework. It’s the third or fourth attempt to pull off such a difficult trick in the last decade, and right now we simply do not know whether it will be any more successful than the others.
