Seven Top Tips for Working with Seldom Heard Communities
Public bodies are required and expected to work with and understand their communities when planning or changing services.
A key element of this is reaching and engaging with seldom heard residents and communities who do not routinely attend public, board or council meetings or to get involved in service change programmes.
Seven Top Tips for Working with Seldom Heard Communities starts from the point that there is no such thing as ‘hard to reach’ – if public bodies are not engaging with the communities they serve, the failure sits squarely with them.
Using a combination of best practice examples, insights from marginalised communities and group exercises, this half day session sets out 7 top tips for reaching beyond the ‘usual suspects’, working with seldom heard communities and using their insights to inform strategy and build trusted relationships. There will also be an opportunity to share knowledge and experience with colleagues from across the public sector.
