Applying Law of Consultation
Consultation law is like a minefield we must navigate.
It can include statute, statutory guidance and common law. There are many ways that a consultation can be challenged if processes are not right.
Employing examples of case law and judgements from judicial reviews this Law of Consultation course takes participants through the multiple grounds, of which Gunning is only a part, that might be used to challenge consultation decisions. This includes when decisions not to consult can be challenged.

Using a combination of information shared and exercises this course will enable participants to become competent at how to plan pre-consultation and consultation to reduce the risks of challenge. Completing the course, they will be able to analyse a situation and produce recommendations for lower risk approaches. They will also build some understanding of how to manage those that threaten to challenge.
