One of the fundamentals for a practitioner is to both understand and be able to work with information, data and sampling.
Collecting Information, Data and Sampling Half-day is an essential for beginners and those who have yet to experience training. It is designed to provide an overview of the general principles around the process of collecting data for engagement or consultation exercises. It also serves as an introduction to the more detailed courses on creating surveys/questionnaires and running a focus group. It covers:
- Different methods (both qualitative and quantitative) for collecting data
- Exploring the difference between qualitative and quantitative data, and their uses
- Validity – how to consider questions that best capture the information you want
- Different types of questions to ask
- Sampling a population to collect data from, and why we do this
- Types of sample (including stratified samples)
