tCI provides independent assurance, accredited training, and expert advice for public consultations that carry legal, political, or reputational risk.

tCI (formally the Consultation Institute) provides independent assurance, expert training, and advisory support for public consultations.  We help organisations run processes that are fair, transparent, and defensible reducing risk and building public trust.


A Reset, Not a Rebrand

The original Consultation Institute, founded in 2003, went into liquidation in 2024 after more than two decades as a recognised authority in consultation best practice.  It had an excellent team skilled, committed, and widely respected across the public and infrastructure sectors.

In 2025, a new leadership team re-established the organisation as tCI.  This reset preserves the proven intellectual property, frameworks, and quality standards that made the Institute widely recognised. Just as importantly, it carries forward the values that defined the Consultation Institute integrity, independence, and a belief in meaningful public engagement. Today, tCI builds on those foundations with a clearer delivery model focused on three services: Quality Assurance, Training and Certificates, and Advisory Support.

  • Quality Assurance – independent reviews at every stage of consultation

  • Training and Certificates – structured learning pathways to build internal capability

  • Advisory Support – tailored guidance for complex or high-profile engagement

Carrying Forward the Value

While tCI is legally a new company, many of our Associates and Fellows will have worked with the former Institute, bringing deep experience from health, local government, and infrastructure. We understand the trust that was lost when the old organisation closed, and we are committed to rebuilding credibility through openness, discipline, and focus.

By combining the best of the past with new leadership (that has significant experience of public consultations) and a clear commitment to our core purpose, we ensure every engagement we support meets recognised standards, withstands scrutiny, and earns public trust.
