WOULD you like a say on how Wirral Clinical Commissioning Group engages with the public? Then this could be just the opportunity.
A group has been created and is run by the CCG, with its public members appointed by an independent panel.
The CCG is responsible for planning and commissioning healthcare in the borough, and the new panel, known as the Patient and Public Advisory Group, will look at how the body interacts with the public.
According to the CCG, the panel will act as a ‘critical friend’ by scrutinising engagement activities and ensuring it consults with the public, and is currently looking for new applicants.
It will receive information about how the CCG works and where is it considering commissions, reviewing engagement and consultation plans in an ‘advisory capacity’.
Sylvia Cheater, the CCG’s patient champion governing body lay member, said: “Our members bring with them a wealth of experience from both within and without the NHS, some having worked in the sector and others in industry.
“We want this group to reflect a wide range of experience and backgrounds – you don’t have to have had any association with the NHS.
“We would like to expand the group and would welcome new applications.
“The group’s role as a ‘critical friend’ to the CCG in terms of public engagement is vitally important in helping ensure that patient and public voices are always present in the way that services are designed.”
Currently with three public members working alongside a range of stakeholders, the group will report to the quality and performance committee, and meet twice a month.
Its other responsibilities include considering the outcomes of engagement and consultation activity, to identify best practice and learning and make sure the CCG continues to improve.
